Racing review for 2022
Added to 2021 Autism Awareness theme for 2022 season..!
Update...(really a "downdate") on the 2022 Season...
Started this silly sport in 2009...awarded Rookie of the Year...and more thru 2021...made improvements to the car and the driver every year..since. Race results improved..consistently top fifteen and ten in yearly points...(not bad for the oldest driver in my division.. possibly the track) but 2022 a lesson in humility...self inflicted mechanical issues, unnecessary and unexpected incidents and accidents...which caused for to many DNF's and missed starts...regulated us to 21st in points...not where we should be...there is always next year...can't go forward if you keep looking back...see you in 2023..!
Thanks to all my supporters and fan...
Check back from time to time for any new..news..!
RACING AGAIN in 2021
We are back racing...! At Thompson Speedway Motor Sports Park....Thanks to the American-Canadian Tour and Pass Tour owners and promoters .The Icebreaker in the begining of April got us started. We always look forward to seeing new cars and paint schemes,as much as, old cars and familiar paint schemes. There were a few rule changes to all divisions this year. I guess to make the racing more competitive...but I’m not sure if more affordable. We made a couple of changes...not all but enough to make a little difference
April’s event was a blast. It was just great to be back at Thompson. The # 10 was fast in practice and qualifying. Started mid pack in the race. I raced it up to 8th...unfortunately made a dumb mistake with two or three to go ending up 12th for the day...I wasn’t disappointed...we always come to have fun and that we did. Car was a little banged up... was just cosmetic... a fairly easy fix. With only six events scheduled this year there is plenty of time between races to get things done and prepared for the next race .
June 16th race was a little more exciting...weather was cooperating perfectly for racing. Car was again fast in practice, in qualifying we started third right behind a new car to the division...which spun going into turn one...brief caution flag...miraculously all race cars got by...caution car goes to the rear...I inherited inside pole...lead a three or four laps...which was a blast...couple of veteran drivers got by me...I’ll take the fourth. Funniest thing was..after qualifying a couple of the drivers stopped by the trailer to see if I was really driving...!
On to the race...We where poised to start on the outside pole but decided against it for a number of reasons...decided to start last. Our race strategy was to wait for some incidents or accidents (happens quite frequently) then race our way up to the front. Well that failed miserably...!! on the positive no drivers or race cars hurt...we ended up with a top ten finish..(9th)...it was a great night..! Had fun...just a little maintenance on the #10 for the next event on Wednesday July 7th.
Write this down in your racing calendar...!

2016 Racing Season
Finally got over here to post the latest and greatest for the 2016 race season. Thanks everyone who has been asking for whats going on at Bucketlistmotorsports this year...and...
For our three fans and Pete Kinne crew chief on Scotty Sundeens race car the 36...here goes:
April 10th-12th...Just about every race we have attended since April the #10 has been involved in one skirmish after another. Now...I'm not saying I was an innocent bystander...but it just "seemed" that way. When the season opened in April at Thompson Speedway... we got shoved around a bit in practice which you learn to expect. Then coming out of turn two got spun..."practicing". In and during the spin got hit by at least three of my closest competitors. (Which I didn't realize until two out the three drivers came over to apologize and to see if I was okay and offer some help.) Which all resulted in damage to the complete left side of the car including rims and suspension. Had to retreat to the infield pits and couldn't continue simply because I couldn't see past the hood. (The hood being crashed and bashed up and past my line of vision for safe racing or was it practice...)
All that being said...got the car back to the trailer thinking all the way the we were pretty much done for the weekend. It happens that my good buddy and part time body guard/crew member George Munger was with me for the event. So we immediately got to work on the cars damage...missed round 2 and 3 of practice...but was able to qualify for the Sunday race. The #10 looked like hell but we still had a fun run and ended up 16th for the weekend. Not exactly how I wanted to start the season. Call it what you want ...driver race rust, some drivers running out of talent, maybe first time at the track or maybe someone was texting while racing...it could happen. The #51 of Josh Wood was first across the white line for the 2016 Icebreaker. Had a great time like we always do at the annual pit party for the Icebreaker weekend. Spent some time catching up with my three fans. Had the kids signing my hood all in all great day...couldn't think of any other place I would rather be after a long cold winter. Needless to say found more damage to the car back at the race shop. But we had extra time between races this year because of a different type schedule. We took the extra time and of coarse extra money to get the car in racing order for the next event.
May 18th...The second race of the season was our divisions long distance race at 40 laps. For me it's all about pacing yourself and equipment. We got banged around a bit...then got run into on a restart which spun me in front of everyone behind me. Which resulted in every panel and corner of the race car torn apart as they all went by with the "smash and grab another position thing"...It's funny...could be me...but when you hear the motor of the car behind you keep accelerating through your left front fender...could it be possible its intensional...just sayin. Josh Wood in the #51 had his second win in a row and of the season with some serious steam and a great handling race car. Not to mention young Josh can wheel a race car pretty well. I think we had managed a 12th and all the new stuff we hung on the race car from the last race...was now the new old stuff. Oh well we live to race again.
June 1st...the race was Whelen Military Night...After the last two outings and to prepare for this race... I made the decision not spend anymore money on body panels and paint. Took the car apart...again...opted to jump on and pound out all the damaged panels on the floor of the shop with whatever large "tool" that was available. Hung it all back on...with a little bit of canned spray paint...and we were good to go. The race was no different than the last two....Got pushed around, blocked and spun again on the back stretch and then the front stretch which was totally my fault. Ended up a disappointing 14th. The only great thing about the race was that # 77 Phil Jacques took the right hand turn to victory lane. Great guy and team....congratulations on their first win.
All the new stuff before the race...
June 15th...the race was won by Brett Gleason in the #01....his first in this division. For me this was a heartfelt victory for our friends at Gleason Family Racing. I have a great deal of admiration for the family racing dynamic and there are quite a few family teams at the Thompson Motorsports Park. The Gleason's...Roger the dad and his two sons Brett and Jesse have been racing for awhile and are at the track working hard all the time...and good folks. After the win that night the huge smile on dads face just said how proud he was. We had a non descriptive 15th place finish.
July 9th dubbed ..."For the Fans Night" apparently Mother Nature isn't much of a fan of local NASCAR racing....Corey Hutchings piloting the #38 was first to the checkers...Honestly thought that Thompson Speedway made the wrong call to race tonight....Driving to the track in pouring rain like everyone else was such "fun"...said me never....BUT....once again Josh Vanada and staff pulled off a great night of racing...fought off Mother Nature big time... for all of us...and the track prevailed. Made a couple of changes in the program and we all got to race it...for me....my race unfortunately ended on pit road with 5 laps to go...for an 18th.....nothing that can't be fixed but that's another story... I could have "46"or is that "47" ways to tell it...but deciding to take the high road...there is less traffic up there.
July 27th... was a crazy night of racing...extremely warm... Spun twice, once on the backstretch and once on the front, barely missing both walls pulling through for an 11th place finish. A little passing damage here and there...moving up in points a little and always having fun. Our friends over at Gleason brothers racing won again...this time it was Jesse Gleason #25 under the checkers first. Roger (dad) had... but didn't think it possible...an even bigger smile on that night. He was one proud dad.
August 10th....(excerpt penned by guest columnist Jessica Stott)
Despite the rainy weather, Dad started off the night strong in practice with the best lap times to date. Thompson skipped qualifying due to weather and being behind schedule. Headed into the feature running 12th, until the second caution was thrown with about 7 laps to go....Dad almost avoided the two car spin out, headed low, took a quick ride through the grass, held onto it but got clipped on the right front making his way back to the track. Completed another lap but ended up parking it due to damage. Some repairs to make before the 10 is back out there for the next race. Little disappointed for the driver but we still had a fun night in the pits with a first time fan and future sponsor, LP! Until next time.....Josh Wood #51... was able to hold off all of us for win number 3 of the season.
My favorite picture of the season...
August 24th...(Another guest script penned by crew chief and daughter...Jessica Stott)...
After making a few repairs and adjustments to the car from the last race, the #10 started 14th and finished 13th last night. Moved up and down a few spots but held the position while bypassing several wrecks. Good news- this might be the first week without major repairs to do for the next race. For the crew chief, it was back to basics tonight. Just the two of us, lots of laughs, cherished conversations, and most importantly, quality time together. Doesn't get much better than that! Oh...almost forgot our friend (that's what dad said) Scott Sundeen in the # 36 had the win.
Sept 7th...Postponed because of rain...but I was able to beat the rain back to the house for a first place finish...yeah, yeah... I know I'm stretching it. This race was eventually cancelled all together...the track couldn't...wouldn't...didn't...find a night that worked for the make up race...ho hum.
Rain out...
Weekend of October 16th...The last race of the 2016 season...(and all seasons as far back as I can remember....) "The World Series of Speedway Racing"...we where unable to attend this year, we had a fabulously, fun family wedding instead. Listened to the race on the internet with the iPad on my way up to Maine. From what I understand 36 race cars started...was a crash fest...and for the second time this season the # 77 Phil Jacques... again took the right turn to victory lane for the winners interview..! We ended up 13th in points a little better than last year...

2015 RACING SEASON
Next Race is on August 12th...@ Thompson Speeday Motorsports Park...the NASCAR Modifieds will be joining us for the event...always a good show...Come on out and support local NASCAR racing...you will have a blast!
UPDATED 7/30/2015
"The Racing Season 2015"
For all of you that have asked...Okay…so here it’s the first of August and I’m updating the web site…so kill me....been racing since April so you can imagine how the season is going up to now.
Icebreaker weekend April 10-12…
My racing idol George ("of the Jungle") Munger
Was... to say the least a mixed bag of…oh let’s see…couldn’t think of any place I would rather be to…I couldn’t get out of there fast enough at the end of the weekend. Pretty big car count for the first event of the year…lots of new cars paint schemes etc. Once again the car was good…driver not so good. Call it what you want… long winter…racing rust… racing with one's head up their ass makes it difficult to see where one is going. Enough said… ended up 17th for the Saturday feature congrats to Moose Douton on the win. Sunday was slightly better with a 15 place finish... Scott Sundeen left the weekend a winner.
The pit party is always fun...we let the "kids" sign the hood for good luck and to be a little part of our race.
At Thompson Speedway Park again June 9th for the road course and again on the 10th for the oval track....
We acquired a former championship winning BMW 535is last year in the fall. Winter was spent getting the car ready for scheduled track days in 2015. I showed up at Thompson on the 9th with the “10b” BMW for the first of a couple of the Northeast Track Days. Three divisions of racing ability …I was in the middle ”intermediate” class with a bunch of different race cars…left and right driving isn’t new to me… but after four sessions at around 45 minutes a piece…I now have acquired a renewed respect for the folks who do this for a living or just for fun. My arms are now a little longer and will possibly help with picking things up off the floor of the trailer. Will be returning to the track on August 18th…with a new set of racing tires for sure…went fast…but need to go faster…car is everything the previous owner stated…and more.
Back to the speedway on June 10 for NASCAR racing…
with longer arms and needless to say…a little tired and spent. During the feature a pretty spectacular wreck on the front stretch…which started in turn four…sent the 10 through the infield…I was along for the ride but…put the deck down mowed the grass a little… got the car straightened out at the beginning turn one and back on the track…finished the race 19th Congrats to ...Flyin’ Ryan Waterman he received the big trophy for his efforts tonight.
The month of July had two scheduled races at Thompson Speedway Park first up was the 8th of July…the day was hot. Car was...hot... I was…hot… the finish was not…ended up 21st a lap down. Enough said….Corey Hutchings was the first guy at the line tonight…congrats.
Well…! on to the race for the evening of July 29th…
First a big shout out to Jesse Gleason for the win…he has been absent from winners circle for a while…I have a great deal of respect for the Gleason family…simply because dad and his two sons are always at the track together and obviously share a deep love for racing…nothing better in my opinion.
Went out for round 1 of practice… race car was great…decided to sit out second round practice…it was close to 95 degrees and even hotter in the car. Soooo…on the track running 8 laps of qualifying…car starts smoking…get black flagged…took the #10 back to the trailer discovered right side valve cover blew out…threw a new one at it…started 16th in the feature ended up pulling on to pit road with an overheating race car…don’t know how but ended up 14th.
Looking forward to returning to the track end of the month…barring any unforeseen incidents, added expenses, unexpected death or tornadoes. All that being said… I’m still havin’ the time of my life with the time we spend at the track. The other part of the “we” is spending time with daughter Jess.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Two weeks away to the start of the season...See you all at the Icebreaker at Thompson Int. Speedway!
